What is a modular synthesizer?
// Modular synthesizers are just like any other synthesizer, except they have components that can be rearranged on the fly. At any point, the behaviour or sound of these wonderful instruments can be changed in subtle or drastic ways. This rewiring leads to a web of wires that brings the technology alive in its own way.
The goal
// The goal of this project was to inform the viewer about how fun and interesting the world of modular synthesizers can be and to inspire new forms of creativity.
The approach
// Filmed as a human-interest story, the focus is on my personal experiences with modular and semi-modular synthesizers and how they affect my creative process. The personal storytelling in this documentary is enhanced with improvised performances that demonstrate the instruments' timbral range.
